LALO SHIFRIN , Argentinian jazz and classical composer. Played extensively as a pianist with Dizzy Gillespie. Released over 100 albums from the early 1960s to present. This 82 year old composer is responsible for many film scores as well as numerous television theme instrumentals. Of note the TV theme for Mission Impossible, Planet of the Apes and Starsky and Hutch and film scores for Che, Cool Hand Luke and Dirty Harry.

This album of mine fuses an enjoyable interplay with jazz improvisation and classical structures. The rhythm section of Shifrin on piano, Christian McBride on bass and Jeff Hamilton on drums collaborates brilliantly with the classical orchestra of Cologne, Germany.
