From the Jim Bickert post--I now understand why Jim Hall was sh!t-scared when Mr. Bickert walked in a room he was playing. And from that first vid, also understand that the the bass is truly a guitar. Nice doing and just why I put this Thread up. Readers/listeners are encouraged to seek other material on YT--there's a lot there.

All I have to say is YES Pat Martino! And that's terrific he's still touring.

I really loved the guitar playing of Steve Laury. I was about 15 years old and playing in a Rock band in 72' and he would stop in to say hello. I would hand him my guitar and the rest was history. He was about 19 or 20 then....in the mid to late 70's he traveled to the west coast and formed Fattburger which was a Jazz/fusion type of style. Then he left Fattburger to write his own music and for a while he was an internationally known Jazz artist. Some live footage of his playing is on Youtube and he is a fine player. Originally he lived in Vineland N.J. and developed a reputation as a universal type of guitarist within the Jazz/Blues/ and Rock music scenes.

Having lived in New Jersey for 35+ years, how could I not support
Steve Laury as a Local Hero? Not my flask of rum but I can't fault his musicianship and general good works--his 6 albums in 17 years (and with a 10-year voluntary recording hiatus), and sold-out gigs attest...BTW, Vineland, N.J. might sound like some boondocks outpost but it's only an hour to Philadelphia and easy journey to NYC--best of both worlds 'cuz it's also close by Atlantic City and plenty of work in AC's gambling-glory years.

They'd damn well better--it's how they make their living. Surely you have someone you can present? The guitarist/trio at Umberto's Clam House, for example?

Margie Baker That's Doctor Baker to us. An SF-Bay area "Local Hero" because she had family and professional obligations. First album in '05 at 68 (she'd retired), her latest was last year. This puts you in the picture:

http://margiebakervocalist.com/home.html Ron Weinstock's blog entry hipped me to her:
http://inabluemood.blogspot.com/2012/02/...blues.html << a warm, savvy vocalist I'm pleased to present to you.
Some tunes:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OVPTZVreS0 << Not an
ad-hoc studio grouping; these folks been playing together for years...then add a bit of string sweetening...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOAi1RQ4XG0 << What a wonderful job they do on this Jazz classic! To issue a "cold shot": "Smooth Jazz" for the thinking person.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0nZuHofVM4 << Dr./Sistah and buds jump up. One of the commenters gave a shout-out to the bassist. I heartily concur.
