Not sure where the title comes from as this is the groups seventh album. Interesting to read after the demise of the Sex Pistols Lydon hooked up with Virgin Records
head Richard Branson who tried to get Lydon installed as the vocalist for Devo. The group rejected the hostile takeover. Johnny went on to form P.I.L. A much better fit. I
thought this band had more chart success than I see now. Only one top 10 album in the UK (Flowers Of Romance) and none in the US. Wiki shows no chart activity for
AUS or CAN. Two love tracks on this album for me with one bomb. The band had one more album after this one before calling it quits for 20 years. Reformed in 2012.

I should re-phrase my last post....
I loved Sex Pistols and liked PiL until around 84-ish, last thing that was brilliant IMO was "(this is not a)love song", made a couple of good singles after that.....
I still like to watch Lydon, just don't like the songs

This looks enticing, Crazy mate! CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:
ROBIN AULD "fingers in my pocket" cd, 2011
a gift from a member of MD(sorry, not mentioning your name incase you didnt want me to)....
i put the album in Alternative because it has elements of blues/folk/jazz and slight reggae sounds but doesnt seem to fit totally in any of those...
according to wiki his major influences were Santana,Ry Cooder and Neil Young which is in line with all the styles in his music...
Robin is a South African artist who has released some twenty albums in his career...
like i said, lots of styles combined in the tracks here...
fantastic vocals...slightly rough yet smooth, and powerful yet mellow at the same time...
there is also a slight feel of Aussie band Bondi Cigars in his sound, yet, neither artist have probably heard of the other one...
allup a fantastic album from any artist at the thirty year mark of his career...
im looking foreward to delving deeper into his career at some point.
shame theres little on youtube for this guy,and especially from this album, but i'll post links to all the songs i can...
and ive just thought about what these songs sound like to me....the Stills-Young Band "long may you run" album

I think I used to like these guys more than I do now, or else they picked the wrong tracks for this compilation. It still passes the test but I expect better from a pull from 7
albums over 10 years. Funny that they titled this So Far, when the group only had 1 more album before a 20 year split. All of these tracks were released as singles and
the last one was new.

Lived up in Mass. when these guys surfaced. The band is from Boston and there was an excellent radio station up there where they got a lot of play. They never really
made it big but they were an influence. This is their best selling album, going platinum. Nothing else has come close, but they only had 4 albums before splitting in 1992.
Reformed 20 years later for an album in 2014. Have not heard that one and probably shouldn't. No way they could sound the same. Pixies and Sonic Youth were my go
to alt bands for this era.
