2015 Cricket World Cup

SteveO Wrote:I heard that a second cyclone hit!

the second Cylclone is over the Northern Territory but heading South East...the winds and rain from both Cyclone's outer edges have now combined to create another tropical-low system...
the original Cyclone was been down graded to a catagory three system now...this happens when they cross over onto terra-firma...
the original cyclone has also split into two seperate weather systems, both following slightly different paths at present...

im not doing as well with my tips as the last World Cup tournament...
i actually had a few bets on the last one...
i started off with $5 and took it up to $523 by the end of that tournament...
i only bet using that original $5 and placed $5 on every game for something to do...
i correctly tipped the winner of every match leading up to the finals...
i then correctly picked Sri Lanka to win their semi-final against West Indies but incorectly picked Australia to beat Indis in their semi, making it one solitary loss up to that point.
i couldnt decide on who i thought was going to win the 2011 final between Sri Lanka and India so i took my money and ran!
incidently,India won that tournament.

Australia v Bangladesh...
no result, the rain from the looming Cyclone washed out play and the game was abandoned...

7-wins
3-losses
1-no result

sundays matches are between:
Sri Lanka and Afghanastan
and,
South Africa and India...

Sri Lanka should blitz it in!
the other game betwen Sth Africa's Protea's and the Indians is going to be a tough one to predict...
both sides are evenly matched, but i think the South African team will probably fall over the line by a nose!

so, Sri Lanka and South Africa are my tips.

i probably should have posted this earlier but here is the layout of the competition games...

each team plays six games, one against each side in their prospective pool.
at the end of the round the top four teams from each pool head into the quarter finals and its a knockout tournament, ie:
if a team wins they prgress to the semi-finals, winners of the semi's progress to the Grand Final, the winner of that is declared
the 2015 ICC World Cup champion.

Watched some of the West Indies/Pakistan game today! I think it may have been a replay? West Indies won 310-6 to 160. What does the 6 after the 310 signify?

ok SteveO....
the "6" refers to the amount of wickets(outs) lost by that team in their allotted 50 over batting innings...
once a team loses all 10 wickets during their allotted innings they are "all out" regardless of how many of the 50 overs are left to be used.
if a team is "all out" for "160"(to use the example you posted) their innings is complete...

so it works like this(and i'll use the example you posted once again)
West Indies batted first in that game...
they have 50 overs to score as many runs as possible, in this case they lost 6 of their 10 wickets to amass 310 runs...
Pakistan then have upto 50 overs to surpass 310 without losing all their wickets, to which they did not...

if a team batting first is "all out", the team batting second still has its allotted 50 overs to surpass that score

i hope that all makes sense to you mate.

the links i post with each result take you to a page where you can watch highlights/recaps of the match in question
