Frustrated now because I wrote a careful answer to the post "Adieu" and it was rubbished by the system.

So in short:

I am an oboist, find "Adieu" challenging, would like to play it - pianist wife may have issues about accompaniment.

It reminds me of other oboe pieces (Britten, Metamorphoses), and Ysaye's Violin stuff.

It could do with a prelude, with the slower and more plaintive melodic capabilities of the instrument exploited.

And it could do with a longer and more secure conclusion - a coda - even in the required minor key.

I'll post this as is, though there's lots more to say, especially about musical scoring.

God bless,

L

If you look closely, you will notice the piano part consists of about four different sections that are constantly repeated. Count in quavers first, 'feel the rhythm' when it's comfortable under the fingers stick to the time signatures. It does have a kind of a prelude. Look at the opening before the piano joins in. I haven't written in major/minor keys in about thirty five years and I'm not very old either. I'd love you to say more.
