Madonna just missed at #21

surprised Modest Mouse came in that high

Yeh, me too....
More surprising to me is that MM debuted at 15 here...

Madonna is now at that career stage like the Dylans,NY,Macca,Fogerty,Elton etc where the fans fo out and get the albums upon release week...
I think the latest U2 album did the same thing also....

Decades ago albums stayed on the Billboard charts for weeks and even years! My how the music industry has changed!

Yes but not just the industry--the whole landscape, especially consumers (us) have changed considerably in acquiring methods, payment expectations, patience, social media playing a huge part in folk's lives--all of it. If anything, the music industry has been dead-slow to respond--the hipper labels and artists (the ones I'm attuned to) get it; the Big Dogs everywhere in the industry (and that specifically includes chartmakers), not so much.
A man accustomed to hear only the echo of his own sentiments, soon bars all the common avenues of delight, and has no part in the general gratification of mankind--Dr. Johnson
