Warren Cann was born on this day in 1950, in Victoria, British Colombia, Canada. He moved to the UK at age 20 and got involved in the fledgling band Tiger Lily that was to become Ultravox! and then simply Ultravox. He is a drummer, songwriter and a bit of an innovator in terms of drum machine programming and other electronic wizardry. He was achieving effects through his modifications of the equipment available at the time that would only become possible for others once the MIDI arrived on the scene three years later.
I used to love their Vienna album. Interestingly, his own style of drumming was such that although live (as in this clip), was precisely timed so as to almost match the electronically programmed parts.
