When I listen to songs that are considered "alt rock", it seems that songs from the 90's/00's all fit the bill of a true rock band with a mellower edge (borderline pop in some cases with the lyrical content) to them (Lifehouse, Hoobastank, Incubus, Staind, Jimmy Eat World, Gin Blossoms, Linkin Park, RHCP, Weezer, etc.) compared to what is under the same genre today, it doesn't even compare in terms of sound and lyrics. I've read things on how alt rock has turned into Indie (some would consider them hipster bands), is that an accurate representation on what alt rock turned into the 2010's?
