where were you when......?
#1
Jerome gave me an interesting idea for a thread with his "i remember where I was when 9/11 happened", and Diana, Bowie,

so I others would like to post I remember where I was when....

all you have to do is say what event it was, where you were and if you care, the feelings you felt at that time.

okay, so i'll kick it off with one....

you guys all know im a huge Presley fan right?!

we hag emigrated to Australia from the UK just nine months previously and were still living in the migrant hostel whilst our house was getting built,
it was Graylands Hostel, in Mt.Claremont, West Australia, the place doesn't exist anymore...
I remember waking up in that morning and thought it was strange that my mum wouldn't let me watch the children's shows on TV...
I kept nagging her to turn them on...
after enough nagging my mum told me that Elvis had died overnight....
I was gutted, ten years old, sobbing my heart out and refusing to go to school...I ended up crying all day on my bed....

any other takers????

And that's exactly the sort of comment I would expect of you...

Have you had your THC yet??

If not, maybe you should and...
If you have, maybe its working really well!

I found out about Elvis's death at an old schoolfriend's home. His mother was an Elvis fanatic - and I mean FANATIC. Anyway, Stephen (my old mate) and I were not really into Elvis but we decided to listen to one of his live albums - the one that starts with the 2001 theme. Just love the drumming on that album. This takes me back big time - https://youtu.be/MK0x6U1aPuk

Driving home from work, I had to pull off to the side when I heard Stevie Ray Vaughan had been killed in a helicopter crash.

I really loved that cat, and still haven't fully recovered from it.

And that was...wow!!...25 years ago.

I also have a very strong memory of this.

I was , I think, 12 or 13.

It was the first time I'd ever seen my Mom cry. I've never forgotten that.

I was decorating the family Christmas tree when I heard about John Lennon's death...what a bummer, I did cry! It was very surreal to say the least!

Heard about Elvis' death on the radio at work...my wife was a basket case!

As for 9/11, I had the day off work. We lost a beloved cat so it was a sad day. I didn't have the radio or TV on, being the Operations Manager I thought I would call work...asking what was going on at work,,," You don't know? Turn on the TV". I was utterly in shock when I saw one of the airplanes crashing into a Twin Tower! It looked like something out of a disaster film! Needless to say I then rushed into work!
