I read the news today, oh boy!
#1
over the time I have been at MD we have all at one time or another posted news articles that have uplifted, bewildered, horrified, saddened, thought were funny or even had one of those "what the heck" moments attached to them...

so I decided to create a thread so we can post news articles we come across that you think may interest other members one way or another...
the articles don't have to be musically themed, just anything you come across whilst watching the news, reading the paper or even surfing the WWW,

you can either copy and paste the article or give a short description of the article and post a link we can open ourselves...

I haven't put restrictions on the stories youre allowed to post, but just be aware that anything deemed offensive by other members of the forum will be deleted which im sure will not occur but I have to include that anyway:

man saves his "instant win" tickets at McDonalds and gives them to the homeless so they can get a free meal:

as a footnote: I would have thought feeding anyone McDonalds would have been called "abuse", "attempted poisoning" or "assault causing bodily harm" LMAO!

One of my favorite fields of interest includes Space related discoveries, it can be so cool. NASA recently gave a press release saying that they plan on making an announcement about Europa, one of the moon's that orbits Jupiter, on Monday, September 26 at 2pm EDT. Seems they might've found an ocean!

Staying tuned. Confusedmile: Maybe there could be life of some kind on it or developing there, probably no aliens though.

space exploration etc interests me also....

I just hat ethe way how closed minded the so called experts are when they say..."water/oxygen are the basis for life, so no life could exist either without it or anywhere else",
theres creatures that live five miles under the ocean in sulphur plumes with pressures exceeding 100tonnes per square inch, that shouldn't be possible but it is...

and whos to say ALL life in the universe can only occur on an earth like planet...pure ignorance IMO,
im sorry, but as Jeff Goldblum said in Jurassic Park "life will find a way"

sorry, off on a rant then, but yes, Space/Astronomy is a fascinating subject, and those photo's Hubble takes are breathtaking and wonderous.

Personally, I doubt we are the only living beings in the Universe, it is so vast that surely there are planets out there where some life forms exist, maybe there are beings who evolved in a different way, etc. Where there is water, there is potential for life and our planet isn't the only one out there that has that. Water is often a vital building block of life for many organisms though and our planet has the right conditions to produce life and be habitable.

There are organisms that manage to survive in hostile environments. How? I don't know, maybe they are quick to adapt or there is something else sustaining them. -shrug-

If you accept the fact that the Universe is infinite, and I do think it is, we will never know if some other form of life exists because we will simply never be able to explore it all. Imagine that this planet we are on is just an atom floating around in another much larger body. The mind boggles.
