why do they make these albums so long?
what happened to the good old 45 minute album? (30 if you were country)
this was 1 hour 10 minutes
sometimes less is more
jazz/neo-soul here
but it's on Blue Note, thus placement decision was solved
most vocal tracks use a vocoder
I know this because the bio says Glasper plays a vocoder
to the musicians here, what is a vocoder and how do you play it?

driving me nuts
whose song is this?

I don't know who's song it is, I was assuming it was his....!

as for Vocoder,
I thought it was that stupid voice altering thingy that Daft Punk uses, as does Neil Young on his Trans album, I was unaware it was an instrument???

you mention the length of the album....
theres been a few ive listened to of late that were relatively short...

im pretty sure the length thingy of 45 minutes was due to the fact of minimum spacings between the groove on the record, but I could be wrong....

then came the cd which gave something like 78 minutes of time on a disc (even though they can hold a lot more storage space),
so most of the albums over the last thirty years have essentially been "double albums" if formatted on vinyl, which is why there tended, for a period, to be a lot of filler
on a cd album as they filled up the allotted time allowed...

BTW, most of Elvis' movie soundtrack albums barely lasted longer than 22 minutes on vinyl back in the day.
