Cliff Richard "just....fabulous rock 'n' roll"
Spotify listen:
a covers album of old 1950s r+r tracks that
were sung by his peers back in the day,
one track as one of his own UK hits back then also...
a posthumous duet with his hero Presley also, "blue suede shoes",
strange thing is, Cliff applied to the "Presley machine" over a decade ago
to use his voice in a duets album and Priscilla refused to let him,
now, it seems, everyone has dueted with Elvis over that last decade,
and so has Cliff, but he was the first to seek permission.
im not generally a fan of covers albums (and this is Cliff's third now),
but im not criticising or putting him down for doing it because if anyone has
a right to do so, it is Cliff Richard,
he's survived the indignity of being publicly named as a suspected Paedophile
in the UK over the last couple of years (and finally cleared by Scotland Yard),
he's had top 10 studio albums and singles in the UK since 1958on a regular basis,
continually tours to sellout shows across Europe/Commonwealth countries,
so IMO, he has every right to record what he wants, when he wants.
