I found this article interesting in regards to vinyl records:

Boy, I have no wish to go back to the days of having to be so careful transporting albums, must store them the right way, must keep wiping the dust off them, etc.
I know some people prefer vinyl and good luck to them, but I wish they wouldn't constantly bang on about it.

I prefer vinyl but they priced me out of the market long ago

I like playing my vinyl, more as a novelty now than for serious listening pleasure, brings back memories of "the old days" (I must be getting old!)

I have a very large vinyl collection. I have a record player and rarely listen to anything but my swing/big band collection. CDs sound great and when I see people at my local shop buying these "pure vinyl" (whatever the hell they advertise it as) of albums recorded in the 60s or 70s, I just think they're buying a lie. Whether it's CD or vinyl, a $2000 stereo system is going to have a purer clearer sound than a $100 retro system. But, the music doesn't vary from CD to vinyl.
Packaging on vinyl way back when was a great selling point, it doesn't work as well with small CDs. So, I've found it harder to find new bands via packaging/marketing. It's part of the art-form that most indie bands barely consider. If they do, it's a testament to the large companies that knew how to create memorable covers that drew an audience to them. Because new bands fail miserably to create memorable covers or packaging.
Music has always been a passion. It just isn't what it once was. But, then I saw bands like U2 in small NYC clubs. There are no U2's anymore. Hell, there are no movements worth a damn either.

There are underground music movements now. Vinyl is catching on as a novelty even among some young people, I've noticed.
I have about 30 "legacy" vinyl albums. I have got to the stage now where, with only one or two exceptions, I have acquired on CD all of the ones that I care about replacing. If someone walked in tomorrow and said they would take them off my hands they could have them.
I'm not sure I want to go through the hassles of getting a few dollars for them on eBay. Most of them will probably end up in thrift shops. I may see if the local community radio station is interested in some of the more interesting esoteric stuff.
