SHARON JONES & THE DAP-KINGS "soul of a woman"
Spotify listen:
nineth or tenth studio album...
Sharon is sixty-two, made her first album aged forty!...
former correctional officer...
songs very much in the vein of the 1970s soul/funk artists...
hear bits of James Brown type stuff in many of the songs...
a good album
from the album:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

^Sorry to say she passed away this time last year CH - it's her final album. The release must've been timed to coincide with the anniversary of her death.
Thought I remembered an R.I.P. thread for her so was surprised to see this new album! She certainly doesn't sound like someone who's dying. A sad loss to soul - the lady had some chutzpah.

^No apology necessary CH, least of all to me! It’s a new album release – anyone would expect the artist to be living.
And just so you know, your posts and reviews are very much appreciated even if not always commented upon. Thank you.

I did look on Wiki and didn't see anything about her death so I assumed she was alive, and I guess that the page hadn't been updated for a while maybe??, unless I just didn't see the bit about her death,,,
either way...a very good album
