NEW ALBUM: Marina - "ancient dreams in a modern land"

[CRAZY-HORSE]

Deezer listen:

debuts at 17 in the UK this week and 38 here in Australia...
welsh singer
fifth album, heard of her and only heard one album previously.
was the album title that bought me to her...
pop/pop-rock, art-pop, baroque-pop...
some crunching guitars on a couple of the more rock sounding tracks,
lovely strings and pianos on the more quieter tunes.
first half of the album is politicsed social conscience type stuff dealing with the environment, mis treatment of women by man etc etc.
second half is more relationship, personal songs.
influences and vocal quality, think of Gwen Stefani, Fiona Apple, Kate Bush, Enya, Laurie Anderson, PJ Harvey and youve got it.
all up though,
a very good album on a first up listen, its on "the list"....

title track and favorite:

[CRAZY-HORSE]

and one of the slower tracks:

[Music Head]

enters the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart at #92
