All Time Favourite Single ?
#1
Any of you ever thought what your all time favourite single is ? Well mine has to be "Vidio Killed The Radio Star " by The Buggles . :first:
I can go a bit further than this . Let's break it down into decades .
1950s What Do You Want To Make Those Eyes At Me For / Emile Ford And The Checkmates . Last ever UK No.1 of the 1950s .
1960s . Sugar Sugar / The Archies [Obvious it has to be that one] Year 1969
1970s . Vidio Killed The Radio Star / The Buggles . Year 1979
1980s . Don't really have one for that decade though Spirit In The Sky / Doctor And The Medics does spring to mind . Year 1986
1990s . Again , hard one to do and though many good ones just can't pinpoint one .
2000s . American Pie / Madonna . Year 2000 . [Has to be this one]:llama:
It might me mentioned that there are many others that come extremely close to the above mentioned . For example , the 1960s , Lady Maddona / The Beatles is a high rider with me .

As much as I would like to answer this, I find it impossible.

First off, with the exception of the 60's, in which my roots were formed, I am just not singles oriented. I refrain from listening to the radio because of my loathing of singles. I remember living in Cincinnati, finding this station that played entire albums all the time. I was in heaven. What else but a college station. Back to the 60's, there are just too many to possibly pick just one.
sorry.:frown:

I'd say Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go by Soft Cell but I'm sure I'm missing a bunch of ones that I love.

ok fine
I'll give you one for the sixties. Has to be Dylan's Like A Rolling Stone. That was the first I had heard of him and it persuaded me to buy The Time's They Are A Changin', which probably changed my outlook on life, making me think. I have been thinking ever since. Thinking is hard.

Get It On........................T.Rex:evil:
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!

It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown.

A good one that . Infact for me it is the rest on the 12" version that makes it . The main part is only about average . But add the rest of it and it is brilliant . The one let down on the CD version of the Album of No Stop Erotic Caberet . Has the 7" of tainted love like it alwys did . But rather than the whole 12" it has the "Where Did Our Love ," go part in amoung the extras been added on . But then it is just that part on its own and worse still , there is that bit of intsramntal in between the two missing . Need to have the vinal version .
Also there 12" of Bedsitter , and there 12" of Touch are first class works . One thing that has to be said for Soft Cell ; for all there sins they could make a decent 12" when they wanted to . Often is the case , the 12" version of a single is not always as good , let alone better than the 7" .
On that note could start a new thread here . All time favourite 12" single . Cool
