Beginner's Guides, concept
#1
The aim of this section of MD is to allow members to introduce other members to bands or genres which may be new to them.

The idea is to create a thread in which a simple introduction to the band/genre is laid out.

Whilst there is no really rigid format required , it would be useful if the following were included:

  • A brief introduction to the band/genre.
  • A single easily available starting point for members to get a taste of the music.........the format of this can vary ............and will depending upon the entry but, good sources would be a CD, a DVD, a download , a youtude video etc
  • It would be a good idea to suggest some youtube material so that a visual impression could be gained.
  • Web sites which give further information about the band/genre .
  • Books which explain more about the overall story of the band
  • Graphics could be included
  • Further listening : CDs
  • Further listening/watching DVDs/Blue Ray

For bands which have an extensive careers, it might be a good idea to split the career into sections to make the guide(s) mare manageable........

Don't think that because someone has posted a beginners guide to x that you can't............it is often useful to have more than one opinion.

Remember that this is a service for MD members and it will be the members that decide it's success .......it will only grow if you use it. So take part !

Finally if you do use the guide to introduce yourself to a new band , it would be a good idea to add some feedback to the appropriate thread so that we can use it to improve the service

Lastly don't feel that your entry has to be perfect, don't worry to much about always getting it right...............the main thing is to take part and have some fun sharing your ideas and interests
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!

It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown.

I think in principle it would be a good idea to have a requests thread for "The Beginners Guide"

I do have one or two thoughts:

I am anxious that everyone can take part ............I don't want members to feel that they have to refer it to an expert..............

I feel that the range should be wide ...eg all sorts of different bands and genres , to get that I feel that everyone should feel free to have a go.

I would like to learn about some new areas and so I hope that new members will broaden my horizons too.

However, if it will help I would put one on!Cool
