just thought i'd let everyone know that after 9wks 'recovery' is still No.1 on aussie album charts, iron maiden managed to debut at No.2, but em held 'em off, as he did with kylie minogue several weeks ago.
'just the way you lie' is also still the No.1 single in the land, and after 14wks on the charts 'not afraid' is still in the top 10.

'recovery' and the singles off of it have done remarkably well for marshall mathers worldwide.

EMINEM is well and truly back where he belongs...at the top of the pile alongside tupac and biggie smalls!

I guess this is your endorsement of the release.
Loved his first few albums.
Can't say the same for this one.
Not Afraid is ok, but the duet with Rihanna is just bad.

i think 'recovery' is eminems most 'mature' album lyrically, theres no 'poppy' shite on it like 'my band' 'just lose it' and the like, no dimwitted accents etc.
i guess that i understand the albums lyrics relating to prescription drug dependancy as a breath of fresh air, for i too, have been dependant on such medications, it takes a long time to admit you have a problem, and a bigger step to do something about it, i admire eminem for his 'bearing all' for the world to see and hear.
my prescription abuse cost me my wife and kids, and 'not afraid' and other lyrics on the album really do express how it feels to be on them and the sheer relief to see life through clear eyes and mind once again.
it is a very personal album for me, eminem explains things so concisely regarding that subject.

this is eminems 'tonights the night' and 'driving rain', it will make sense to more people as time goes by.

thats the beauty of music, its a personal thing, it can be extremely emotional and personal. music is full of emotions and feeling and any songwriter who can convey that in a 3,4 or 5 minute song is worth their weight in gold.
i tend to read a lot of bios of musos, thus giving me an insight into their lives, i find that helps to understand their music. the classic example for me is red hot chilli peppers, i wasnt really a big fan of their music until i read 'scar tissue', it all made sense to me then, hey, it worked for me and thats all that matters.

all music is beautiful, if it influences or inspires someone to greater things i think its done its job. Smile

in the year 2002 and 2003 eminen is on the top and in these years he is not doing so good, his songs are mostly political with a message like i am not afraid and love the way you lie.but he is on the top of the charts.

..which just goes to show that Slim has matured and learned from his mistakes

I'm a huge fan of Shady, have been since I was like 7 years old. And to this day I am a fan of every one of his albums. I know alot of people didn't appreciate Recovery as much obviously because Slim Shady was to prominent on the album. But hey, the guy is still blasting the charts even with all of his controversy. Thanks for the support man!

Slim Shady is his alter ego, I figured everyone understood that. M&M= Marshall Mathers, Slim Shady is an alter ego used in his music also used in the band D12 aka Dirty Dozen( which contains six members all with alter ego's making twelve total.). If you listen closely you can tell the difference in lyrical content along with vocal style when he switches from Shady to Marshall.

(figured I should add that a member and close friend to M&M, Proof died shortening the numbers of D12)
