Should the Stones do a 50th anniversay tour, and would a death pool be in poor taste?
#1
Seriously. Should the Stones hit the road, or just get a plaque or something?
Please give reasons why or why not.

I'm kind of disappointed that I never saw them but I'd hate to see them now...... Unless they're doing like a Halloween show.

I have seen them 3 times 1969, 1989, and 1994. The one in 1989 was the best one. Steel Wheels! '94 was Voodoo Lounge. I like the Stones. If they do another tour just get tickets far away from the stage.

seriously....what would be difference between the last tour and a 50th anniversary tour?

and who really cares anyway, they are just a product nowadays....

what have they ever really done to deserve the praise that gets heaped upon them?, there was never any originality about them in any respect of waht they do, all they did was steal a style from the US black blues artists, and did nothing to improve on it?
just blatant copycats IMO....and for the most part all their music has sounded similar over this last 50yrs....

oh yeh...and Mick looks like a real pratt trying to prance around on stage like he is still 20??? grow up Jagger and get off my cloud!

they should have quit when The Beatles did(or possibly around 72ish) then their legacy would have got more respect from me than it currently has...as if you couldnt tell?!

Only have 1 album by them - Goat's Head Soup - bought purely because I liked the song 'Angie' which I still regard as their best piece. 'Paint it Black' and 'Ruby Tuesday' are another 2 I like, but other than that don't know any of their albums.

It's better to burn out, than to fade away
Would prefer the burn out have taken place around 30 years ago

Try telling that to the 100,000 fans they would attract at any concert...today !!!!

Remember my friends , they were widely recognised as always being "The Greatest Rock n Roll Band in the World" for many many years. Whether or not you agree with that label doesn't matter because millions do agree!!!!
They can still pack them in , even today regardless of their geriatrics.

I grant you they were not as artistically cerebally inclined in song writing skills like other groups but they know how to " kick ass" on stage and they had some pretty fine songs - I Can't Get No Satisfaction is still in the top 10 of all time rock songs. I love Beggar's Banquet album...and Exile on Main Street is still considered a rock classic album ! They lost it for me when they released Emotional Rescue ! But I'd go see them live in a heartbeat.

Paint It Black, Ruby Tuesday, Jumpin' Jack Flash, Street Fightin' Man, It's Only Rock n Roll, Waiting on a Friend,Lady Jane (Asher), Gimme Shelter, Sympathy for the Devil. Honky Tonk Woman, Start Me Up, Angie, Wild Horses...and much more,,,,great rock blues ! I agree that their style - blues rock became a dead end for them since Steel Wheels but they are still popular among the masses and when you come down to it ...that's what counts....Artist and Fan !!!! ...all the rest is just fluff ! Remember music is very subjective !!!!

Besides , CDs are going by the wayside and concerts will be the thing and believe me they know how to do a live show !!!!!:nod:CoolACDC is going toward the same path....great live band !!!!...not really a thought provoking lyrically inclined group...now are they ! Just like the new Green Day live album...sometimes you have to turn it loose and have fun rocking out to great high energy rock !!!!

Hmmmm???. wondering how long Macca will tour....as the Stones would say "Time Waits for No One " !!!!Confusedmile:

If you haven't heard "Exile on Main Street", you don't know rock n roll

agree with all you've said here Steve, except that going to see them thing.
old men as rock stars just don't do it for me.
I see enough of that in the mirror.
