Best DJ you've seen live
#1
Personally, I have seen the following during my university years, and from the odd occasion when I used to go clubbing.
  • Dave Pearce
  • Tim Westwood
  • Brandon Block
  • Pete Tong
  • Lisa Lashes
The best and most enjoyable night I had was at Hatfield, Hertfordshire University when Dave Pearce came down and did a night of old 90's classics from the trance scene. They even used the old Gatecrashers speakers meaning you could feel the beat at the other end of the hall. Was brutal! Confusedmug:
With Regards...

The best DJ i've seen live has to be James Zabiela, that guy has some crazy skills - saw him at Fabric a couple of years back and he absolutely blew my mind!!! Have enjoyed sets from the chemical bros year before last at turnmills - pretty damn awesome as well as seb fontaine again at turnmills on a previous nye, these are the ones that stick out for me.

I've seen/heard many a DJ, but my favorite is a tie. I saw Richie Hawtin in 2001 at Crobar in NYC. He played a punishing, hard, minimal set that kept me on the dancefloor for a long time. My other favorite was seeing Matthew Dear at MJQ Concourse here in Atlanta around 2004. I think he was DJing, he may have been performing live but it was from his laptop with him singing overtop.

I guess. I prefer to just say "techno". Lately most of the records I've enjoyed do fall under the "minimal" tag whether its micro-house or minimal-techno. I also really enjoy dubstep.

The only DJ I've seen live was at my junior homecoming dance. I wasn't impressed. Maybe he'll do better this year, if I even bother to attend my senior homecoming dance.

The DJ at my wedding was pretty good. He played YMCA straight after 'The Chicken Song' - masterstroke! (It was a classy affair).

I've never been 'clubbing' - bit too old for it -looks like fun though

This thread is about club DJs, not wedding/high school dance DJs. I think you guys know that, but I'm not sure... you do know the difference, right?

Also, you don't have to go "clubbing" to hear a good DJ perform. There are many events and venues. Sometimes they're free and outside in parks, sometimes a coffeehouse/bar/pub will have a good DJ, and sometimes rock venues have both a live stage and another room with a bar and a DJ.
