If there is one person I can not get enough of it is not other than Marvin Gaye. His voice always manages to sound good whether he singing a great love song or a great social song. Marvin Gaye was a unique singer. I will explain later why he is a genius.

Marvin Gaye's version of The Star Spangled Banner brought tears to the eyes of basketball players and fans before an NBA game ! Now that's singing !!!!

not so sure that Marvin was "so great"...sure i love several of his singles,like numerous more...love the album "whats goin on", think he had a great voice, but overall he was no better nor any worse than numerous other Motown stars of the late 60s early 70s....think his legend grew because of his untimely death at age 40....
but feel free to change my mind....im listening!

I think I would back Otis Redding...................Excellent artist with a great way of putting his emotions across in a song !

I love Marvin Gaye he had a truly great singing voice, and he always brought his own style into every song he sang, and he always managed to sound great no matter what he sung.

Otis Redding is another person who knows how to sing so well because he knew how to sound excellent. I feel this man is someone who has done so much good to the music scene. I mean his voice is so unique. I cannot get enough of his voice. I think I will need to check him out for some time.

I like his voice a lot (who doesn't?), but his music never really got me very much
My favorite soul singers are Gil Scott-Heron (a poet if there ever was one) and Terry Callier (the offspring of Al Green and Bob Dylan) |
