Being a new member, I'm curious what other members think may be the highest quality recordings of some of the most popular overtures in classical music. Are there any high quality compilations that have been released on CD? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I am not sure I fully understand your question.

Are you looking for original recordings, or what about a classical overature recorded recently by a professional orchestra?

Personally I like the 1812 overature, and if I looked on itunes I am sure I would find many recent high quality recordings.
