I could never understand how a pop rock group like Ireland's Cranberries released such a phenomenal hard rock anthem in the song Zombie and then continued to release soft low key love ballads ???? Such a musical contrast !
Their new release - Roses is another littany of pop rock love ballads that are ideal for late night background music but really nothing new here. Recorded in Toronto last year it is the group's sixth studio album and their first in ten years. The Cranberries are a great live band (buoyed by Zombie) that fall short in the studio.
Oh yes, the lovely Dolores O'Riordan still hypnotises one with her pretty voice but other than that this album is just ordinary.
