Have you ever heard W. Carlos' switched on bach and other records? What I am looking for is similar music, except original compositions. You know like switched on bach except not bach. It is kind of an obscure concept, and either non-existent or hard to find. There is plenty of music that nearly meets the description. This might not make any sense... but just think neo-classical music with synthesizers. does that exist?
I registered on this forum just because people here seem knowledgeable. I actually myself make music like this, but I am not spamming or sharing or anything, just looking for similar artists who perhaps have been successful in some way. I can't have been the only person on the planet to come up with that idea.

I've heard of Walter/Wendy, but only have the Switched on Bach 2000 CD which I like a lot.
To be honest, I've never uncovered anything remotely similar to this, but that's probably because I'm not looking for it.
Jon G may be able to help, when he comes on-line. He's a professor of electronica, and if he can't help, I can't imagine who will. He might be suspicious that you are heading toward self-promotion, though. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

I've never listened to Switched on Bach. I can't comment in relation to that. But there is quite a bit of modern composers out there who use electronic means to create or add to their music. It's been going on for quite a long time - ever since people learned how to harness electricity to power machines.
If you want to go way back you can look at people like John Cage and Karlheinz Stockhausen. Then in the sixties "Minmalism" emerged with composers such as Steve Reich and La Monte Young. Philip Glass is also from this school and is probably the most well known.
There is a lot out there. I've only skimmed the surface myself. A contemporary producer/artist who is more on the techno side of things is Murcof. He has a classical background but sometimes produces techno.

none of that is what I am looking for. I am familiar with murcof via myspace, and I really like his music. but murcof and what else you have listed is all very experimental, noisy, or abstract type stuff. I was really looking for melodic type music. you know, like bach. music that is actually music but with synthesizers

I'm not sure what you mean by "music that is actually music". Why do you want music that sounds just like classical but made with synths? Why not just the real thing? Personally I don't like when synths are used to imitate acoustic instruments. I'd rather hear music that uses synths to do things acoustic/analog instruments cannot.
Hmm, I just thought of someone. Look for Colleen. On her first full-length,
Everyone Alive Wants Answers, she made loops from classical recordings and used those to make new songs. By the time of her second album,
The Golden Morning Breaks, she taught herself to play the instruments themselves.

yes, me too. I would like to hear music that uses synths to do things acoustic/analog instruments cannot, with great music. I appreciate experimental/abstract stuff too, but that is easy to find. I am not looking for synthesizer music that is modeled after orchestras, either. That is switched on bach, and a number of others. Isao Tomita, for example. I am looking for music that uses synthesizers in new and interesting ways, but that is tonal and melodic. I know somewhere out there someone is doing this, there has to be

I think every body want to prompt music online....I think this is the best way to promote the music online ... And to gather the young crowd.
