I'm firmly in the Sabs camp.
They were one of the first bands I really got into as a teenager. Started to veer away from metal shortly after the start of Ozzy's solo career, and haven't heard much of his that does much for me.
Dio only made one good album with Sabbath IMHO (Heaven & Hell), and I don't really give a toss about his solo career.

Although I am not a fan of either mentioned, I think for shear impact on the industry and their genre, one must go with Sabbath. They were probably one of the first rock bands I heard, my older brother "introducing" me to them WAY back in the late 60's.
On an interesting side note (for those fans of Independent music) Dio guitarist, Craig Goldy has implemented Destiny Bridge, for unsigned artists. KUDOS Mr. Goldy. :coffee:

I liked the first Black Sabbath lineup with Ozzy ! ...although I do like Ronnie Dio's vocals and to tell you the truth I never heard Sabbath without Dio or Ozzy !!!!!...did they have a vocalist ? .... Bill Ward, Tony Iommi or Geezer Butler ???

One track on TE sounds almost like the beatles - 'It's Allright' (I think that's the name of the track) - also has one of their great ballads - 'She's Gone'. But I have to admit I don't really listen to any of their stuff anymore.

Have to say that I think Dio's best work was his performance on Rainbow's 'On Stage' album. And one other track where he really shone was 'Temple of the King'
Play this an awful lot - simple yet powerful
