It appears that the swear words in the lyrics are totally acceptable today! Drake is a Canadian artist who is very big up here and all over! The Toronto Raptors basketball team has made him their official spokesperson recently as this week! and my grandkids listen to this! Nothing is sacred these days, And people dare to knock black and extreme metal! Give me a break!
The lyrics are the key...it will no doubt top or nearly top the charts! Other than that the music is secondary, boring out of the same old hip hop rap music template. I heard enough hip hop rap to know there are a lot of intelligent artists out there making this music but they are not mainstream and not many people know them...except for Eminem!
Common and Sage Francis are very good artists that also use sophisticated r n' b!
Maybe that's why a teenager told me to f*** myself yesterday! The music has contributed to total disrespect...any fool can see this!
The ultimate connection is between a performer and its' audience!

Totally agree SteveO
amazing the rap that scores high on the charts
when there is actually good rap that gets made without the vulgarity
back to Drake
new album just came out
and it looks like everything on it hits the singles chart this week
with digital downloads there's no such thing as singles as we remember them
assuming downloads get counted in the sales figures leading to all tracks being on the singles chart
same thing happened with Jay-Z's album

Yes Music Head, the digital sales are compiled also, at least the ones people pay for ...ITunes, etc. I hear the figures once a week on the radio station I listen to (talk radio only)!
In a protest to this rap crap I posted a very good brutal black metal track! I am playing it very loud,,,(the wife is out spending money..lol). Just the dog and I listening and grooving!,,lol. Just think of the screams as another instrument, I can't make out the lyrics any way! ...lol
Have you tried Sound Cloud for music streaming? I think it's on FB!,,,,,AOL wouldn't work for me so I just use Grooveshark and like yourself I love You Tube,,,you can practically get almost anything on it!....also Great Lake Swimmers should have a new one out soon !

Well stated James!,,,the sad thing is that the music and its' message carry over into real life attitude and aggression!

I wouldn't like the song without Drakes verse. I agree that it contains way more profanity than I'd like to hear (as does most hip hop) but i have to give him credit for being creative on his delivery.

Ah hah! So it is the lyrics and not the music that attracts the young listeners! ....thought so! ..thanks!
Sidebar - exclusive radio interview with Drake recently - he said there is fierce competition in the rap hip hop music business to see who can become the most successful and popular,,and he is striving to be number one!...it appears he has succeeded !
