RE: NEW AND NOTABLE: upcoming albums - Ruby - 12-04-2021
Dennis DeYoung is taking a bow in style it seems. He’s releasing what will be his final recorded work in June - 26 East, Vol 2. Sounds like he’s having his say too – with great panache, of course. Like it or not - the impresario doing what he does best …
From an interview here - https://www.loudersound.com/news/dennis-de-young-recaptures-styxs-prog-glory-with-new-single-isle-of-misanthrope- "When people ask “What is Isle of Misanthrope about?”, I reply 'About eight minutes',” quips DeYoung. "Not to be too cute, but the lyrics are a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. Wait, that was Winston Churchill's statement about the Soviet Union. Sorry. 'Misanthrope', metaphorically speaking (ooooh look, big words) is a commentary on the contemporary state of mankind under the guise of ancient times. The more things change the more they remain the same.
"Also, Isle of Misanthrope is my musical journey back to the days of Styx’s Equinox and Suite Madame Blue, as I attempt to explain the exasperating and confounding nature of mankind through metaphor. It’s got a good beat, but won’t be a hit at the disco,” he explains in his usual witty manner."

There's something quite charming about this song. I'll look out for upcoming album, Afters. No idea where the band name comes from!
RE: NEW AND NOTABLE: upcoming albums - Music Head - 27-05-2021
I'm curious
what led you to discover this?

track has a bit of a Bright Eyes feel to it IMO.

so there was nothing on Wiki when i types in the band name...

I keep an eye on Loudersound - they're quite good as far as rock related ezines go, IMHO. Don't like that word - ezine, but anyway I guess that's what they are! They're much more focused than Rolling Stone. Noticed this one which they referred to as 'Canterbury inspired' so had a listen.

i just checked out Louder Sound
havent looked around it fully yet but straight away on the main page theres an article about a new Beatles doco coming out:
https://www.loudersound.com/news/the-beatles-and-india-new-documentary-to-shed-light-on-infamous-beatles-trip
now that will be interesting as it was an almost formative time for the fabs in the way they change their outlook on life for the rest of their lives (John and George mainly).
hadnt seen that article anywhere else to date.
