A small but mighty label in Brooklyn, NYC, that keeps the R&B/soul tradition alive--and not in some musty, "museum piece" way either. The label is headlined by Sharon Jones and the Dapkings, but have quite a few others including 2 excellent Afrobeat outfits, Antibalas (think: Fela Kuti for this century *) and The Budos Band. Everything is recorded on analogue equipment, not digital. Site: http://daptonerecords.com/ which advertises the thrust of this Post--this year's edition of The Super Soul Revue at the storied Apollo Theater. One can only hope every minute was recorded for future CD/DVD release. Here's a Revue review: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/06/arts/m...-soul.html << be sure to check out the slide show

A man accustomed to hear only the echo of his own sentiments, soon bars all the common avenues of delight, and has no part in the general gratification of mankind--Dr. Johnson
