My Top Ten Musicals (by MY opinion, not popular opinion)
#1
Musicals are my favorite thing in the world. I also have many favorite musicals. I have very odd choices, though. One thing, if you have a question why I chose such and such, then you can ask in a reply to the thread and I will tell you why. Also, You can post your favorite's, too, if you'd like. I love comparing my list to others.

10. Mary Poppins
Mary Poppins is the ol' fashioned Disney fantasy musical. I love Mary Poppins so much. Especially on stage. My favorite number is "Chim Chim Cheree." It is where Burt, now working as a chimney sweep, speaks about the glories of being one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vjDMjgHaSQ

9. Suessical: The Musical
Seussical is a musical based off of many of Dr. Seuss's works squished into one, including Horton Hears a Who. My favorite number is from the Horton Hears a Who portion of the show. A number known as, Biggest Blame Fool. This number is where the characters in the jungle of nool make fun of Horton for thinking people lived on a speck: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVxueCPmdVE

8. Fiddler on the Roof
Fiddler on the Roof is an excellent show about the culture of the jewish back in the day. My favorite number is "If I Were A Rick Man." It is where Reb Tevye marvels on all of the things he could have if he were rich:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahAOU1HZXlc

7. Shrek the Musical (this one will probably raise many questions)
Shrek the musical is probably the most underrated musical on the list. Shrek is usually pushed to the side because it's about....well....Shrek. People think the movie is enough. My favorite number is called, "Story of My Life." It is a number with a bunch of fairy tale creatures dumped in Shrek's swamp and singing about their problems. It has many puns and gives the side characters more attention than in the movies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCaPX-VYIHo
6. Spamalot
Spamalot is a musical written by Monty Python, based off of their film, Monty Python and the Holy Grail. This musical is so tongue and cheek that it's hysterical. My favorite number is called "Whatever Happened to My Part." It is about the Lady of the Lake Complaining about having nothing to do after act I: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EeXcEMTm0M

5. Chicago
Chicago is an interesting show with a lot of visual creativity. One of my favorite musical numbers show that. It compares a lawyer with a ventriloquist. The lawyer is the ventriloquist and his client is a dummy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2YLezdj5dmw

4. 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee may have an innocent guise with its title, but it can be quite inappropriate. It is a hysterical show, using a spelling bee as a plot. My favorite number is called, "Magic Foot." It is where a character named William Barfee shows his spelling superpower: his magic foot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STC5DsLJ2B4

3. The Drowsy Chaperone
The Drowsy Chaperone is an astounding jab at musicals in the 1920's being a musical within a comedy. Where a man, in his house, narrates the show as it unfolds within his house. He plays it on his record player-----Yes records. My favorite number is called, "Toledo Surprise." It's a number where a producer is going to get killed by gangsters, but tricks them into performing and ti turns into a lot of chaos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILywa8o5TLk

2. Avenue Q
Oh, Avenue Q. This is another one, not to be fooled by its innocent guise. It is a puppet musical, with visible puppeteers. It is a parody of Sesame Street, but it's for adults. So, it teaches adult lessons (like it's okay to be gay, the internet is for p*rn, you can be as loud as you want when making love, etc.). My favorite number from this show is called "the Money Song." It's one of the only numbers that doesn't need profanity or dirty things to get its point across. That you need to donate to the homeless. It makes you feel good when donating. That's the whole point of this number: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uOENpIUVos

1. Little Shop of Horrors
Little Shop of Horrors teaches so many lessons through symbolism. It is a musical about a guy, whom is innocent, and then he comes across this strange plant. He finds out the plant needs blood to live. Then, eventually, it gets big enough to talk and sing. The plant eats people that are dragged in by the innocent guy who isn't so innocent anymore. My favorite number is so hard to even estimate. I would have to say...."Feed Me (Git it)." It is where the plant starts singing and bribing Seymour to kill people to feed the plant, and the plant will make him popular: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MO8maMt4PpY

No questions about your logic or choices (if I wanted the pop opinion, I'd Google it). Can I ask you to modify your choices with a tune or two from each--ones that are your faves or tell us what the musical is all about or...? Micro-personalize, you might say...

Bro--here or at least with me, "strange" is the New Heartland. Bring it. I think Jerome and some others might want to be part of this convo.
