"the kiss"..............................#21 CAN
"tonight im getting over you"...#88 CAN.#38 AU.#90 US..#33 UK

Canadian born Carly's second album...
she was 26 when this one was released, damn, I thought she was younger than that...
some good pop tunes on this one IMO...
favourite being the one featuring Owl City...
one more featured artist on here also....the dreaded Bieber...yuck!
album has sixteen tracks, just too long IMO, ten would have sufficed what I needed on here,
the remaining six let the score down bigtime....

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

CHRISTINA AGUILERA "back to basics" cd, 2006

career stats:
studio albums................7
singles........................42

this album.....................#1 US...#1 AU...#1 CAN...#1 UK
singles:
"aint no other man"........#6 US...#6 AU....#4 CAN...#2 UK
"hurt".........................#19 US...#9 AU...#28 CAN..#11 UK
"candyman".................#25 US...#2 AU....#9 CAN..#17 UK
"slow down baby".....................#21 AU
"oh mother"....................no chart action

Christina's fifth studio album and a double disc set to boot!
a good mix of pop, r+b, soul, swing, jazz, blues and ballads on this one, plus two or three that
sound like Andrews Sisters' style....
all original tracks either written or co written by Christina....
not very often a double disc studio album keeps me enthralled throughout as theres usually
plenty of filler inbetween the good tracks, but this one is brilliant IMO...
one of the best female vocalists in the business yet often forgotten in "best of" lists...
her best album IMO....

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

worst track: thank you
best track: candyman

(song in live performance doesn't start till 0.42)

Good old Eurodisco ballad - unknown to most of you, I guess... but it doesn't remind of his more known hits... try it

A blast from the past. These "singers" today can't hold a candle to those singers.
I just love Linda. Didn't know she has Parkinson's Disease :frown:

THE SUNDAYS "reading, writing, arithmetic" cd, 1990:

career stats:
studio albums.......3
singles.................7

this album..................#4 UK...#40 AU...#39 US
singles:
"cant be sure".......................#45 UK...#74 AU
"heres where the story ends"...no chart action

debut set from this UK alt-pop band...
female vocals....
dreamy pop sounds for the most part....
bought this one for the second single, which I love, and which didn't chart anywhere...
album is a bit of a downer for the most part, hating almost half of the album but the
one track I love pushes it over the line...

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

^^ I played that Sundays clip out of curiosity, and realised I have heard that song many times without ever knowing who sang it.

It's always a bummer when you listen to an album to which you were drawn by one track, and you find that most of the album is not that great.
An example of my own: I had a listen to "Title of Record" by Filter, because I love that song "Take a Picture". Unfortunately that's easily the best song on the album. "Miss Blue" is quite good also, though the ending is very silly; the rest of it is fairly generic garage rock.

"Miss Blue" contains a 13-minute sample of 4'33" by John Cage.

I agree, makes you think twice about getting another by the artist...
back to The Sundays,
others maybe thought the same because they only lasted for three albums and each one sold progressively less than the previous...
