ROBBIE WILLIAMS "the heavy entertainment show" cd, 2016:
ex-boy bandvocalist Williams' eleventh solo set...
reached #1 in his homeland (only one hasn't reached the chart summit)...
often cheeky, double edged meanings in his lyrics so you can take 'em how you want to...
all round nice guy and all round entertainer also...
not his best album but still ok...
the first single from the album, a tongue -n-cheek dig at Mr Putin:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

LADY GAGA "joanne" cd, 2016:
her fifth if you include the Bennett duets album and fourth if you don't....
none of the 'pokerface' type pop on here...
a mature sounding album...
stripped back music for the most part for Gaga to showcase her vocal ability....
her worst selling album, barely shifting a million copies worldwide, a long way from
her debut, The Fame, which sold almost twenty million...
a classy album, by far her best IMO...loving just about every track on this one
and impossible for me to pick a best track...
from the album:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

ELLIE GOULDING "halcyon days" cd, 2013:
her second album was called "halcyon", this one is a re-issued version
with extra tracks...
not sure why she did it because the original sold reasonably well...
a nice pop album, nothing as annoying as "love me like you do" which came off the third album...
a pretty good album IMO...
from the album:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

ED SHEERAN " ÷ " cd, 2017:[/i]
from Hallifax, not Nova Scotia near SteveO, but Yorkshire, UK...
Ed's third, my third also...
guessing he dreams of being a mathematician with the titles of his albums so far !...
the first two were pretty good, but each had a couple of dud tracks IMO...
this one has no filler, all class...
and instead of simply going acoustic, he employs a band on all tracks this time....
pop, ballads even a hint of rap on one track, the rap is performed by Ed himself...
album has sold almost seven million copies since it was released back in march of this year...
four singles off it also, all went platinum or multi-platinum on most countries that count...
the guy can do no wrong IMO, a great pop writer...
love the album immensely...
from the album, not one of the singles but my favourite track:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

OLLY MURS "never been better" cd, 2014:
fourth of five album and only one I own...
UK x-factor contestant, finished runner up back in the day...
they call him hip-hop, sounds like a pop artist to me, no hip-hop or rap here...
pretty good pop on here, the guy can actually sing...
a handful of singles released off it in the UK but only one top tenner...
my two favourite tracks weren't even released as singles...
don't love the album but I do like it...
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

RACHEL PLATTEN "wildfire" cd, 2016:
third album for Rachel but her first for a major label...
good solid pop on here...
she can sing, has strong vocals when required...
not as strong as Amy or early Adele but still respectable...
good solid tracks, intelligent lyrics for pop and no "featuring..." artist in sight..
from the album, not the mega hit "fight song" but the second single and my favourite off the album:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

BARRY WHITE "the ultimate collection" cd, 2000.
didn't know where to put this one, soul/r+b or in pop/dance...
I obviously went for pop/dance because its danceable, but it is also soulful, so either thread....
eighteen track compilation from "mr.smooth"...
love his deep baritone, I could listen to his voice all day...
the songs, well, I can take those in small doses, had to keep stopping the disc for a break
because it was too much to take in one sitting....
I liked some tracks, loved others but the vast majority sounded the same to me...
that said it belongs to an era of music forty years old...
from the album:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

GENE McDANIELS "20 golden greats" vinyl, 1980
American jazz-cum-pop-cum-gospel artist from the 1960s...
only had three or four major hits and a dozen or so minor hits but they were quality nonetheless...
ended up giving up the recording to concentrate on writing for others...
his biggest success as a writer was probably "feel like makin' love" for Roberta lack...
either way, Lloyd Price and Gene McDaniels are two of my favourite's from that era of music...
I could have picked any track off the album to link and i'd have been happy but I chose this one:
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

DINAH LEE "the sound of Dinah Lee" vinyl, 1965:
New Zealand female rocker/pop star from the early to mid nineteen-sixties...
her third of four albums...
not sure where I picked this one up from, a discount bin I presume....
when she rocks out she has a Wanda Jackson quality in her vocals and when shes
playing it cool she has a subtle almost fragile quality at times...
she should have made it elsewhere but didn't even though she appeared on the Glenn Campbell
show on a couple of occasions...
the lead off single (the sound quality gets better through the clip):
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.

P!NK "beautiful trauma" cd, 2017:
sixth album, I own the last four...
pop, soft rock, ballads....
autobiographical songs make up the majority of the album, as is the way with Alicia Moore's albums...
the sound is what we expect from her...
she can sing, shes classy, never has to remove her clothes or have 'wardrobe malfunctions' to sell records...
great artist, allround nice person from all accounts..
my favourite track hasn't even been released as a single yet..
"BTO....Bachman,Turner,Overweight
They were big in the 70s....for five minutes,on a Saturday,after lunch..." - Me 2014.
