Guns n' Roses used to one of my favourite bands, I have two questions about them;

1) Why are they called Guns n' Roses?


2) What are they doing now? :confused:

The lead singer's name is Axl Rose.. So it got inspired from his surname.. Axl always refers to his bandmates as Gunners.

Axl Rose has been planning to set up a new band for over a decade... Though it never seems to happen.


BTW Patience is my all time fave song.

The group was formed in early 1985 by Hollywood Rose members Axl Rose (vocals) and Izzy Stradlin (rhythm guitar), and L.A. Guns members Tracii Guns (lead guitar), Ole Beich (bass) and Rob Gardner (drums).[/url]The band created its name by combining two of the group members' names. A short time later, bassist Ole Beich was fired and replaced by Duff McKagan. After a short while Tracii Guns was replaced by Slash; after Tracii didn't show up to rehearsal. Slash had played with McKagan in Road Crew and Stradlin during a short stint in Hollywood Rose. The new line-up came together quickly, but after deciding to go on a "tour" from Sacramento, California to Duff's home town of Seattle, drummer Rob Gardner quit and was replaced by Slash's close friend Steven Adler. The band, which continued to be called Guns N' Roses even after the departure of Tracii Guns, established its first stable line up on this so-called "Hell Tour". OMG!! I totally forgot about Chinese Democracy... I skipped that one. I guess I'll give it a listen, since Head liked it, might not be bad.

I have been thinking of buyin Chinese Democracy, though I didn't hear too much positive review about it.

Wow! There's actually someone else who enjoyed Chinese Democracy!

I honestly did not think that it was the miserable failure of an album that so many people made it out to be. Musically, it didn't even seem like anything more than a natural progression from the Use Your Illusion albums. Of course, it never really stood much of a chance due to the ridiculous amount of hype behind it. I still think that it would have been thrown a little more praise had Axl released it under a different title and as a solo album.

Oh and "Better" was just an awesome song...
