CYNDI LAUPER "true colours: the best of..." cd, 2009
a two cd, thirty-six track compilation.
thirty singles on here plus a few album tracks.
nothing i dont like on here from her girl-pop anthem "girls just wanna have fun" through to her jazzy/blues era.
i think the compilation is too long personally, could have been reduced to 20 tracks, one disc.
either way, good album, impossible to go past the linked track for me as best.

MARIAH CAREY "mariah carey" cd, 1990.
he debut of fifteen...
i own two, this and "music box".
damn girl had the world literally at her feet back then.
she had a voice as good as Whitney, not sure what happened but she lost me along the journey.
almost the perfect 'pop' album IMO.
it sold some 15 million copies worldwide
favorite track was only released as a single in the UK...stupid record label PR dudes!
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
she goes all Gospel on us towards the end of this one.

P!NK "funhouse" cd, 2008
got one of Dani's daughters over today to do some baking with her mum.
she's choosing the music and im playing on the cd palyer for her, first pick as follows.
her fifth of eight.
i should really put her in "soft rock" as opposed to pop but i didnt...
love over half this album, liking the remainder.
a classy rock album by the best in the business IMO.
I LOVE THIS ALBUM:
posted track sums up P!nk totally IMO, sassy and full of attitude.
shes an excellent live performer but i also love her videos as they are enjoyable
was a toss up between "bad influence" and the title track for additional posting...

MICHAEL JACKSON "HIStory: past, present & future" cd, 1995.
a double disk set.
first disk is a fifteen track compilation, and what a set of songs, just about everyone is a cracker, up there with the best compilations by anyone, anywhere IMO.
second disk is a new studio album of fourteen tracks, one cover one here, Beatles' "come together", i could have seriously done without that one, sorry, but who told MJ that was a suitable tune for his voice and style.
had no idea the hit single "you are not alone" was actually written by R-Kelly.
MJ is getting a social conscience on this one which at times feels like he was going to go all "innerviions" or "whats going on" on us.
i love five or six of the new tracks, like the majority of the remainder with a couple of duds.
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
disk one: the track that would be pretty high on my list of top10 favourite pop songs of all time.
watching him do this one still sends shivers ib my spine when i watch it, absolutely incredible performer, second to none IMO
disk 2: quite possibly one of the saddest songs you will ever hear, seems quite poignant with the deatails of his abusive childhood that emerged prior to and after he died:
Have you seen my childhood?
I'm searching for the world that I come from
'Cause I've been looking around
In the lost and found of my heart
No one understands me
They view it as such strange eccentricities
'Cause I keep kidding around
Like a child, but pardon me.
People say I'm not okay
'Cause I love such elementary things
It's been my fate to compensate
For the childhood
I've never known.
Have you seen my childhood?
I'm searching for that wonder in my youth
Like pirates in adventurous dreams
Of conquest and kings on the throne.
Before you judge me
Try hard to love me
Look within your heart then ask
Have you seen my childhood?.
People say I'm strange that way
'Cause I love such elementary things
It's been my fate to compensate
For the childhood I've never known.
Have you seen my childhood?
I'm searching for that wonder in my youth
Like fantastical stories to share
The dreams I would dare, watch me fly.
Before you judge me, try hard to love me
The painful youth I've had.
Have you seen my childhood

SPANDAU BALLET "the singles collection" cd, 1985
contains fifteen of their sixteen singles to that date so definitive at that point.
dislike all of the blue-eyed soul material (late 82 through to 1984).
prefer the New Wave of their earlier material, love most of those, liking the remainder.

LISA STANSFIELD "affection" cd, 1989
UK pop/dance/house artist.
another from my ex work colleague
i remembered her name,
couldnt remember any songs even when i checked Wiki.
guess i blocked her out of my memory with good cause LOL.
nice voice but the music is the late '80s "house" sound which i dislike.
well actually 87-94 were what i call my 'missing years' because i didnt listen to the radio
or watch any music show over that period as this is what it sounded like.

KATE MILLER-HEIDKE "nightflight" cd, 2012
her third of five...
less of the Tori/Kate in the vocals than her latest album but its still there in places
also, more pop/commercially sounding than some of her other albums.
all up a decent album from ever reliable Kate!

a post break up compilation
fourteen tracks, almost any of these could be up for favourite track...
the consumate pop writers IMO, up there with the best of them considering their short career.

RINGO STARR "ringo the 4th" vinyl, 1977
his sixth,
my fifth from his first sixth and MH's final Ringo purchase...
Mr Starkey goes all pop/dance and funk orientated on this one...
didnt chart in many countries and where it did it really didnt do that well, #65 in Australia was the best it got anywhere...
again, most of the tracks are just okay, Ringo does try his best to do his best but his best just never seems good enough IMO...
only one track i really honestly love on here, an acoustic based ballad about growing up called "gave it all up", wasnt a single but should have been IMO.
rest of the album is very so-so.
I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM
best by a country mile:
Me and Billy were a couple of kids
Nobody knew about the things that we did
Sharing our toys and riding our bikes
We thought it would last for the rest of our lives
But we gave it all up
We gave it all up
We gave it all up for school.
Then my family had to move out of town
Made some new friends and started hangin' around
Started stealing like the rest of the guys
My friend got caught, I saw the fear in his eyes
So I gave it all up
I gave it all up
I gave it all up for love.
She was eighteen and I topped her by one
She said she'd heard about the bad things I'd done
But she loved me and she just didn't care
But one night she needed me and I wasn't there
So she gave me right up (gave me right up)
She gave me right up (gave me right up)
She gave me right up for love.
As I look back and wonder
Have I wasted my time?
Will I ever learn the meaning of life?
Will I learn it in time?
So I sit here with a couple of beers
Wondering how I've lasted all of these years
You're beside me and it's feeling so right
How I'd like to that you for the rest of my life
'Cause I gave it all up (gave it all up)
I gave it all up (gave it all up)
I gave it all up for you.
Gave it all up
I gave it all up
I gave it all up for you
