I know I have complained in the past that there's too much music out there however I admit most of it is good !
This morning, while I was waiting for the coffee to brew, I surfed the Net before I logged into MD and came across the EMO, Scream O, House, Acid Jazz genres and about 200 groups listed for these genres !..representing a small list no doubt . Also recently I came across the Shoegaze genre. I know Crazy-Horse is a boisterous opponent of the genre overkill and I tend to agree !
Why are there so many genres....at least 100 or more I suspect and each genre represented by a conservative amount of say 50 artists then that equals 100 genres representing 5,000 solo performers and bands !!!!..that's crazy !!!! Are some people "showing off" just to be original or cool ??? I would throw a lot of these genres into one category ...ROCK !!!!
I can only surmise that the advent of independent record companies and self promotion on the Internet and yes ..easy downloading has contributed to this ! I can understand the massive list of artists but who created all the genres and why,,,are they all justified to have their separate identity ???? I supose it is a combination of music critics, record companies and the artists themselves that have created this music monster !

The ultimate connection is between a performer and its' audience!
