from my library (cd)
Out of the new stack. Don't have any studio albums and wasn't really a fan until I heard this. When
you put them hits all together it makes a nice package. When you think of what keeps those talent
shows going, Kelly Clarkson is the reason. The first American Idol winner and if not for her success
I can't help but believe that the show would be gone by now. Seventeen tracks on here, from her first
5 albums, plus 3 new songs for this album. That's how they suck the real fans in. Album went top 20
in the four countries that matter, with the US getting the best at #11.

CLIFF RICHARD "wired for sound" 1981
i was at my parents house the other day and i randomly picked out one of their old vinyls to play, this is it!
our American friends may not really know who Cliff is, but in the UK and its commonwealth countries, he was bigger than Elvis Presley for a long long time!
he started out in 1958 and recently released his fiftieth studio album!, he has also had some 150 singles released since those ealr rock and roll days of 1958.
me, im not a big fan, i do own probably 20 of his singles on vinyl but no albums(that i can recall!)...
anyway, Cliff(or Sir Cliff as he is now), has always seemd too sugar coated and sickly sweet for me...
this album contains a cover of an old 1950s hit(not sure who recorded it though?) called "daddy's home", its the only one i love on here, superb version IMO, and it did reach top10 in most UK affiliated countries back in the day, but the biggest hit here was the title track...cringeworthy video though showing Cliff roller skating with walkman headphones on(oh my God, i think im going to throw up thinking about it!),
look its pretty hard to knock a guy who is still going, but i do not like this album, also, as a footnote, and for your useless files of music trivia, Cliff Richard is the only artist to have scored a UK #1 hit in all decades from the 1950s thru '00's!amazing stuff really!
I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM

Daddy's Home was first done by Shep & The Limelites in 1961
I have 1 album by this guy and I can't remember what it is
all I remember is black and white cover with him on it
of course the covers were probably different here and there

JOHNNY BURNETTE "hits and other favourites" 1962
another from my parents old vinyls....
teenybopper idol from the early 1960s who died tragically in a boating accident in the mid 1960s...
best remebered for the original versions of "only sixteen","dreamin'","the girl of my best friend" and "youre the reason"...
i actually thought ole Ringo did a great version of "only sixteen" in the early 1970s!
he also does "moody river", im not a big Pat Boone fan but i prefer his version of it, and "hello walls"...crap compared to Faron's version, but nonetheless, an important figure in early 1960s pop...his brother Dorsey was also a singer as was his son Rocky who had a couple of hits around 1980ish...
album scores a respectable 2.0 from me, a couple of links from a couple of my faves are below

JULIAN LENNON, "photgraph smile" cd,1998
Julian's fifth album, and his best IMO....
we see a more mature sounding Jules on this one....especially lyrically, i guess he had seen a lot more of life by this stage?
after years of being compared to his father's music and sound, julain deliberately went out to make an album that sounds like john/Beatles...
theres lots of similarities here, but thats not a bad thing as he does it really well....
the lead off single "i dont wanna know" sounds a lot like The Beatles circa 1964-65, and the video is a pisstake of the whole beatlemania thing, quite funny actually!
elsewhere there bits of the psychadelic sounds that John used on Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, and why noy, afterall theat song was written about a drawing a young julian did draw!
i sort of hear bits of Crowded House on here also, especially in the track "and she cries", thats not surprising neither as CH have always sounded like a modern Beatles to me anyway,
this album contains two of the most beautiful love songs i have ever heard in "way to your heart" and my favourite track "faithful"
all up though, a very, very good album from the ONLY Beatle offspring to ever make anything worthwhile!
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
worst track: photograph smile
best track: faithful

1. day after day **

damn!, i forgot to add that i saw Julian on a promo trip for this album here in Perth, he sang a few tracks from it and a couple of older ones, just him on acoustic guitar, and a percussion guy to keep the beat...
he did a "q & a" session, then signed autographs...my copy of this album is autographed by him and a couple of old 7" singles
, i ended up chatting with him for several minutes about music and he seemed like a really down to earth guy...none of that "im a popstar" bs that he could have had, and no arrogance around him, which he also could have had with being the son of probably the most famous muso in the business...
cudo's to Jules for being what i'd consider to be a genuinely nice guy 10/10 mate!

It appears that Cynthia had a great influence on him rather than John ///lol CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:damn!, i forgot to add that i saw Julian on a promo trip for this album here in Perth, he sang a few tracks from it and a couple of older ones, just him on acoustic guitar, and a percussion guy to keep the beat...

and his step-father....he has always said his his stepfather did more for him than John ever did...
even during the Beatle days, Julian says Paul spent more time with him than John
