I believe the thing about "desert island discs" is that the lifeboat is so finely balanced that you have to jettison all but ten of your collection, or whatever the specified number is, otherwise the lifeboat will sink, taking you and your entire collection down with it.

For reasons never explained, the number of albums appears to be independent of whether they are single or double albums, or whether they are vinyl, CD, cassette or whatever. Funny things, lifeboats.
