The end of "good" music

have you ever looked through the top 50 charts of decades past? most of it is trite garbage. the reason why you don't hear about those acts today is because they were lost to the sands of time underneath more prolific artists as well as standouts who are (sometimes erroneously or with a great amount of hyperbole) credited with influencing a large amount of music. there's no sense in complaining about popular music today because you're doing nothing different from the accumulative generations of people who have done so over the history of all recorded sound. "what the **** is this baroque shit? WHERE'S THE REAL MUSIC?" drop the rose-tinted goggles.

maybe you could give me a list of artists you think I need to hear, any genre, any era and i'll give them a whirl and let you know what I think of them.

sure, I'll be sticking with the 90s and up because it fits the discussion of the thread. World's End Girlfriend, Portico Quartet, Deep Puddle Dynamics (or really any Anticon release), mouse on the keys, Ben Frost, Saltillo, The Books, Gellers, Kashiwa Daisuke, Hauschka (he has an excellent album with&nbsp;<span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Roboto, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 17px;">Hildur Guðnadóttir), Efterklang,&nbsp;</span>Valgeir Sigurðsson, Long Fin Killie, Boris, Kishi Bashi, Jesu, Worrytrain, Lauren Bousfield<br><br>I tried to refrain from anything too obvious like Flying Lotus who's dominating the LA scene right now or The Microphones since they get so much praise even though I think Phil Elverum's use of the absence of sound to simulate percussion is beyond riveting, as well as something like breakcore which would most likely produce an upturned nose despite some artists within experimenting wildly with time signatures. I don't like spamming names but I can do more if you want specifics
