One of the ten best albums of 2011 is, 'Bitches Brew Live,' by Miles Davis, released in February of the year. It is, of course, a live version of the 1970 masterpiece, Bitches Brew. The album is comprised of two shows of Miles Davis---the Newport Jazz Festival in July 1969 and the Isle of Wight Festival in 1970.
I received this as a Christmas present from one of my best friends and colleagues. I have to say, this album is phenomenal, and sucks you back to the seventies and tricks your mind into believing you are at the show at the time. You experience Mr. Davis at his best.
I will admit, I am a little bias regarding the issue. While most will say 'Kind of Blue' is Davis' best work, 'Bitches Brew' has always been, not only my favorite Miles' work, but my favorite jazz album of all-time.
I certainly recommend this album to any jazz or Miles Davis fan.
