^ I went through these thoughts when I created this thread...............I spent quite a bit of time and money investing in a full set of stereo re-masters of The Beatles catalogue and even collected quite a bit of the Apple re-mastered catalogue too
As you do you compare these with the originals and you find the sonic differences and believe that you have made the correct move in buying them.
However, I did all this without having y turntable available to me and without finding the vinyl versions of the re-masters.
Now the story of the vinyl copies of the re-masters is an odd one! EMI suggest that for some reason the vinyl issues of the re-masters has been put on indefinite hold.
However I have something odd in my collection........
A copy of Rubber Soul...............Capitol CLJ 46440................Issued in the USA .........It is a digitally re -mastered copy of the original UK issue of the album. Issue date 2009.
Now a quick comparison of this against a re mastered CD shows the re mastered Cd struggling to keep pace..............This has better dynamic range, a better sound stage and a deeper bass response.
So I have been looking at a few other vinyl releases of albums and have found hat some but not all do show a better result on vinyl than CD even if re mastered. I’m more than convinced that it not he VD eplay system that is lacking as I can find some CDs of similar quality to good vinyl but I was amazed at how easy it is to show that vinyl has a better sound in some cases than CD.
Hence I wanted to continue posting my findings!
