Record Store Day This Saturday!
#1
This post isn't about music per say. More about mediums of listening to music. This Saturday is the fifth annual Record Store Day, when independent record stores around the country try to prove the importance of them. Personally I love record stores. I love the sense of community in record stores and honestly I love having physical forms of music.

I just watched a documentary called "I Need That Record! The Death (Or Possible Survival) of Independent Record Stores." Anyone else seen it? It was very interesting. Obviously from the title it is about the struggle of record stores. It talked a lot about how the internet is hurting them. Mainly because of digital forms of music but also because people are developing this comfortability of interacting online, taking face to face social interaction out of their lives. Don't get me wrong I love this website, there are some serious music lovers on here that share their great knowledge. Anyway I'm just wondering is there anybody else that still gets a thrill of going to record stores to pick up either a CD or a vinyl? Do like the social interaction at these stores? Are you worried about the alarming number of record stores being forced out of business?

Lastly! Anyone going to their local record store for Record Store Day? What are you planning to pick up?? If anyone is interested in the collectibles being released you can check it out on the Record Store Day website.

Thanks!!

"The record store. Where true fandom begins. It's the soul of discovery, and the place where you can always return for that mighty buzz. The posters. The imports. The magazines. The discerning clerks, paid in vinyl, professors of the groove. Long live that first step inside, when the music envelopes you and you can't help it. You walk up to the counter and ask the question that begins the journey -- "what is that you're playing?" Long live the record store, and the guys and girls who turn the key, and unlock those dreams, every day."
-Cameron Crowe
Sometimes I lay under the moon and thank God I'm breathing.
And I pray "Don't take me soon "cause I am here for a reason"
Sometimes in my tears drown but I never let it get me down
So when negativity surrounds, I know someday, it'll all turn around.
