i think you hit the nail on the head Jerome

most of todays artists have a lifespan of two maybe three albums...its all a part of the 'throwaway generation' IMO

as a footnote...
Dani's daughter loves One Direction,Timomatic,Nikki Minaj etc etc....i keep on saying to her "can you really see these guys being played on the radio in 12,20,30,40 years time,let alone still drawing huge crowds when theyre 50,60 or 70"....
her response is "i'll just delete them from my ipod when im sick of their songs"......enough said!!!!!!

CH, I think we place more value on music than the younger generation. I know that's generalising, but it seems to mean more to us.??!!?? I think the new generation regard it more as an entertaining commodity to be consumed and then they move on to the next thing. One of the reasons musical careers tend to be shorter now as well. If you don't pay for something (a la filesharing sites ) does it have any value??? I don't know. Everyone is falling over themselves to stay 'trendy' and in the limelight. That seems to be more important than the work they actually produce. I also think it's a result of the emerging technologies & social networking sites as well. Or maybe I am just getting old....
