ELTON JOHN "a single man" vinyl record,1978.
Elton's thirteenth studio set in a decade...and first without co-writer Bernie Taupin, guess thats why its called 'a single man'...
its still a great album though and manages to hold its own agianst his previous albums...
"part time love" was probably the biggest hit off this one, even though it barely scraped into the top30's of most countries charts, album was a flop by his previous standards also, but that doesnt mean its a bad album,it was simply released in the midst's of the whole Disco,UK Punk explosion, thus it was never going to compete...
does also contain one of only a handful of instrumental tracks that i can hinestly say i love in "song for guy", written for the record company meggenger boy who had recently been tragically killed on his motorcycle whilst running errands for Elton around London...
"big dipper",another of my favourites here has a distinct jazz/blues feel to it...good to see/hear Elton branching out of his comfort zone once in awhile...
all music only rate this one a paltry converted 1.2 on the MHRS...way off the mark IMO, a great album that deserves better!
