Robert Cray Nobody has done more (this side of Taj Mahal and possibly Keb' Mo') to bring Blues to the casual-listening, pop-oriented middle...and not diluted himself nor "played down" to the serious fan. Doesn't mean you have to like all that he does, but everything presented deserves a measure of respect. Thing of it is, he's fiercely independent but stayed a good man--an uncommon trick in the music biz. Terrif on-point bio on AMG--after reading, natch, roam the discog--aces across the board.
