Thank you all for the warm welcome! Interesting suggestions. I generally prefer more organic sounding stuff over electronic synths and the like. Radiohead is my one exception though, I love how they use electronic sounds. I also don't really like dark, ominous music (Radiohead being the exception again there too. They just always seem to get a free pass with me no matter what they do).
I'm always looking for a healthy balance of upbeat songs and really melancholic songs. I lost my interest in most of the aggressive and darker styles of music as soon as I graduated high school. I have no idea why because I was raised on 90s grunge and hard rock but that's how the chips fell. Anyway, I shall scour the forums for interesting leads!
