SteveO and I are so on the same page recently, it's almost frightening. So: Bettye LaVette. Gifted soul singer in the '60's who really only came onto her own in this century. She did a 2010 piece that just riveted me: an interpretation album of British Invasion and a bit later music--to call it a "cover album" is a slander--it's re-imagining songs iconic in their way and so you'd think no such project was possible.
