i assume you are only refering to those two bands in the US? as KISS are still huge crowd pleasers worldwide, whereas i dont think The Dead are??!

That is true, from what I hear as well. It's kinda how East Euopean kids in the 70's and 80's went all ape about western bands playing behind the iron curtain. Escpecially harder bands. There are lots of bands who have huge followings there still, despite having waned in popularity in the US. I guess it's the old forbidden fruit thing.

Hey, are you saying Bob, Phil and the rest (including the grand parade of keyboard players) are chopped liver? Especially since most of the songs the general public knows are Bobby songs, and not Jerry songs. Also, when Pig-pen died, many said he was "The Dead". You gotta admit, THEY were wrong.

Oh well some 80's and 90's eurodance groups live with touring in Eastern Europe. So I believe, that China could really be good target market for some western bands.

Since music is no longer having value that it once had, of course now concerts are everything. Back then music was more important and someone would get respect because he made excellent songs but now the music is nothing special anymore now we judge more on people's performance than the real songs.

I didn't mean to imply that artists should not be rewarded for their efforts, I just think that capitalism has a nasty way of limiting art to only what is profitable in some way which detracts from true freedom of expression. But that's a point more appropriate for a political forum.
