What Are You Listening To?

I was turned off Dream Theater some time ago because their albums became too predictable . Is this one a departure from their previous ones ?

Listening to Dream Theater's new album A Dramatic Turn of Events...good to see more quality work coming from them!

Courtesy of my friend SteveO. Had never listened to a full album of Celine. Glad I have now. A lot more meat than the expected fluffy blip blop. I prefer the ballad type material. Don't really care for she she goes total dance/pop on us. That being said, there were more of the former on here, resulting in 5 love tracks. Tough choosing a favorite with the first and last tracks duking it out, but The Power Of Love beats The Colour Of My Love. Three tracks I didn't care for at all with When I Fall In Love taking the worst. Nothing could come close to Nat King Cole. Any attempt is futile. This is Celine's third english language album making it to #4 in the states, with of course world wide recognition, reaching #1 in seven countries. The Power Of Love was a #1 single here, with Misled hitting #23. Two grammy nominations came with the album for The Power Of Love and When I Fall In Love. Not sure who she lost out to, and I ain't looking it up. Juno Awards were numerous.

Was listening to to old Jim Croce and ran across this album. I very much enjoyed it. Not all perfect covers but a good listen for me.

Second album and best selling effort (#20) from the Mass. native. Paula claims production credit. Includes the #8 singles Where Have All The Cowboys Gone and #11 I Don't Want To Wait. I'll take the latter for my favorite. It was also the theme song for the tv show Dawsons Creek. Me was also a single and those 3 tracks happen to be the 3 I love. With 3 I do not like, that evens the album out. The album also got her a grammy for Best New Artist. We know about that grammy jinx, so 3 albums since then have not done much. Peter Gabriel has a guest spot here on Hush, Hush, Hush. The connection being Paula opened for Peter on his '94 tour. The piano based tunes here remind me a lot of Tori or Fiona, although Paula's voice is a lot stronger.

BORDERLINE LOVE/LIKE ALBUM!

a fabulous collection of singles from this US solo artist. love the gal's "dont give a crap" attitude within and without her songs, a strong personality who never seems to attract headlines for being drunk or sluttish etc like so many of her peers....and always keeps her clothes on, guess she can because her music is good enough to sell..
this is a collection of 21 of her biggest and best known singles from her early ones when she had dyed pink hair right throung to her latest top 10 hit "f##kin perfect" and "raise your glass".
ive seen this gal in concert and she sure knows how to put on a great show, her acrobatics on stage both on the ground and in the air are awesome to say the least...and she does it without lipsyncing like so many of the other female singers out there..
im not listing the 21 tracks or posting links as we all know the songs, only one on here i dont like in the woeful ode "dear mr.president" which is a dubya bashing exercise....stick to what you're good at Pink and forget the politics!, best track on here is the auotbiographical "family portrait" in which she describes her less than satisfactory childhood where the family put on their happy faces for their family portraits.

only one dislike track,13 good ones and seven absolute classice here giving this a rating of a very good 2.3.
