Need to change this CD which I've had playing in my car - I find it's a really good way to get well acquainted with an album, except now Annie's perpetually in my head!

Funny you should say that Ruby - I do the same these days. Even when I am coming up with my own flights of fancy. I find if I play something in the car it gives me a different perspective to actually sitting listening to it consciously at home. When I am trying to come up with new pieces I burn a disc and then stick it in the car CD player and leave it in there for about a week or so. If it works (for me anyway) I will play it over and over again. If there is something hideously wrong with it - out it comes to be replaced with something my ears can bear. I once found myself thinking that I know this piece from somewhere but could not place the album - turns out it happened to be one of my own pieces that I was trying to develop. Senility is setting in. One of the strangest things that happened to me recently was sitting parked at a bus stop trying to take a call on my mobile when this guy waiting for the bus knocks on the window and asks me the name of the band playing on the radio. I told him it was one of my own pieces that I was trying to check for anomalies on the car stereo system. I don't think he believed me at all and he walked away with a strange look on his face as if he had just come into contact with a person from another planet. Hey maybe he's right!

^Lol! I'd take that as a compliment if I were you.
Yes - it really does work to listen that way and I think distractions, or not conscious listening is key, as you say. It sort of ties in with the different ways in which we absorb information, I suppose. I doodle away like mad when I'm in a seminar or whatever, and seldom focus on the speaker. That doodling helps me to retain what's being said. So because someone's staring out of the window, or whatever, and seemingly not paying attention, it doesn't necessarily mean that they aren't. Likely to be quite the opposite, in fact. All depends on the individual. Teachers back in the day would have been much less stressed if they'd realised that the 'naughty' ones who couldn't sit still just needed a distraction to be able to hear them!

Perpetually entertained by what pops into the player in my head. I can only assume as a result of APP mentions the other day. Bizarrely, from an album I don't care for that much at all - prefer those on either side of it, Pyramid and Turn of a Friendly Card ... who can fathom the why's and wherefores??! Nice voice though ... seldom, if ever other than on this album that the project had lady vocalists ...

When Storm designed this cover he was trying to show the flaws in the women on the cover. So if you look carefully at the models - undeniably attractive - they have hidden flaws - growths on their faces - not easily seen in this pic. I guess Storm must have been getting back at Eve for giving Adam that rotten apple!

Speaking of earworms - this is the current one. I guess it's the time of the year for these kinda things to pop up - resistance is futile - may as well surrender to the clichés with good grace ... could even be fun!

the most annoying earworm of all time....
i also compare him to The Beatles in that they were at the forefront of the British Invasion,
PSY was the forerunner to the K-Pop Invasion...
