So glad this is finally up on the 'tube. Saw this on Jools Holland at time of airing and was blown away by it. Pop with a clear message. Fantastic stuff!

I am listening to Matt Cardle's single which I bought today despite severe embarassment - I had to though 'cos I sorta love him (sigh!).

I'm sure it will pass though, a temporary affliction.

^ I had to Google him ...

Doesn't do much for me (looks, not music).

As I post this I am surprised myself to be posting a Jack Bruce song within the pop section. But what the heck, its a fine song from a diverse musician. I like it!

Barry's third album and his biggest hit with the one all the cool people loved to hate (I wasn't cool), I Write The Songs, written by Bruce Johnston of the Beach Boys, who received a grammy for song of the year. That one was a #1, and the title track made #10. Bandstand Boogie was picked up by the long running U.S. dance show American Bandstand as their theme song. Clip tells how that song came to be. One other stand out for me with As Sure As I'm Standing Here. A couple of throw aways, but overall a nice Manilow release. His career was off and running. The album reached #5.

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - She's A Star

Best Track - I Write The Songs

I've been alive forever,
And I wrote the very first song.
I put the words and the melodies together,
I am music,
And I write the songs.

I write the songs that make the whole world sing.
I write the songs of love and special things.
I write the songs that make the young girls cry.
I write the songs, I write the songs.

My home lies deep within you,
And I've got my own place in your SOUL,
Now, when I look out through your eyes,
I'm young again, even though I'm very old.

Chorus

Oh my music makes you dance
And gives you spirit to take a chance,
And I wrote some rock 'n' roll so you can move.
Music fills your heart,
Well, that's a real fine place to start.
It's from me, it's for you,
It's from you, it's for me,
It's a worldwide symphony.

Chorus x2

I am music, and I write the songs.

A gap-plugging Xmas prezzie.

I guess I don't really need to say much about this, but it is a fabulously put together piece of work. This is at least partly due to the involvement of Quincy Jones, but the bonus track home demos made by Michael, Janet, & Randy show that Michael's talent was in full flow.

Mega-successful, and rightly so...
