Overrated: Every Beatles album

Can't agree with such a sweeping generalization..............Think you need to go and reconsider , put the albums into the historical context and then think...............without them there would be no other albums music to listen to just samplers and padded exploitations of singles ! To quote Keith Richards ............The Beatles moved everyone from Singles to albums! They moved outside the 2 mins 30 seconds single track world !
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!

It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown.

i love this thread you have started and the obvious discussion that a couple of your answers are/have already given but........

my opinion differs to yours and is along the same lines as Gryphon when describing the Beatles albums as being overrated!

likewise from the 1970's...."whats going on", i felt it was a landmark achievement for social and political comment by a "black" artist from a "black man's" point of view.

1980's....it wasnt just The Joshua Tree that was underrated IMHO as i feel 90% of U2's material and status in music is grossly overrated!!!

1990's....Oasis basically spearheaded Britpop with their first two albums and inspired many a young band from the UK from '95/'96 onwards,
i felt they also gave so-called "safe" music the kick in the arse it needed as music was going nowhere between 88-94, i also feel they were as important to music back in the day as the Sex Pistols were back in 1977.

still on the 1990's....the Finn Brothers have been considered underrated by the general public since their earliest days in Split Enz...but thanks for acknowledging their "underrated" tag!!!

BRAVO!!! for starting an interesting and thoughtprovoking thread my friend!

Peggy Lee's Black Coffee is one of the known first concept albums. also the first jazz album done by a pop star. Many people believe The Beatles' Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was the first, but it was preceded by many other albums that meet the definition, including The Velvet Underground's first album.

i think he is saying that most people think "sgt.pepper" was the first real conceptual album of the rock era.....

John Cash also released 'concept' albums prior to "sgt peppers".
